Must Have Wedding Photo Ideas

Your wedding photos offer a window into all the behind the scenes action and help keep the memories from your special day for a lifetime. In this post, we’ll be sharing some great photo ideas from our photographers for for bringing special moments to life. When you hire our Photo and Video services, we make it easy to capture your most precious moments by matching you with the perfect team based on your event, vision, and budget.

Pre-ceremony shots.
Photos leading up to the walk down the aisle can capture the small details and the bubbling excitement with the couple and their wedding parties. These images include invitations, rings, flowers, champagne toasts, getting ready and beauty moments, portraits, the bridal party, and groom and groomsmen. These early shots are also a good time to warm up to being in front of the camera. If you and your loved one prefer a first look, the reactions from these shots can be super fun, beautiful and are priceless! This is a great opportunity for you two to spend some alone time before saying I do. It also allows family portraits to be taken before the guests arrive. If you’re more traditional and want to wait for the walk down the aisle, we also love a “no look” moment of the couple holding hands around the corner of their venue or reading handwritten letters on either side of a door. The shared emotion captured in this moment is really special.

The ceremony.
Images of the ceremony site, the walk down the aisle, the ring exchange, and first kiss as a married couple are some you definitely want to make sure your photographer captures. Next comes the exit filled with confetti or flower petals which make for happy and exciting photos with all the guests. Make sure to let your photographer know if you have something special planned so they can be in the right place to capture the moment!

Couple shots.
If you’re planning a cocktail hour after your ceremony, this is the perfect time to set aside for some photos with you and your new spouse. Once you meet up with your guests, it can be harder to sneak away. They’ll be perfectly entertained as they sip and mingle and this also gives you some special time to reflect on the ceremony for a moment. If you choose a traditional “first look” at the aisle and haven’t already taken family photos, this is your moment. Ask a family member to help gather any grandparents, parents, and siblings together at the cocktail hour for family shots once you arrive.

The Dance Party! aka Reception.
The reception photos should include images of cocktail hour, the tablescapes, place settings, catering, cake and basically anything else to show off all of the hard work you and your vendors have put in to making the space immaculate. Then comes the dancing, which we LOVE. It’s time to let loose! Your photographer can help capture the energy of everyone up and grooving on the dance floor!

And don’t forget all of those candid moments.
Candid moments are crucial! Whether it’s laughs with family and friends, intimate moments with one another, or jamming out to your favorite song, candid shots truly capture the raw essence of the day. A cool idea we’ve seen is to give each table at your reception a disposable camera. You won’t know what kind of photos your loved ones will capture until they’re developed!
